Pool feasibility consulting

Swimming pool feasibility consulting is a paid professional service where a pre-planning evaluation of your property and budget is conducted. It determines if and where a swimming pool can legally and physically be built before you spend money on full engineering or architectural drawings. We work with you to produce a simple sheet of a scaled drawing outlining the area the pool can be installed and spend an hour or two discussing what we can realistically do on the property.

Note: this does not include a pool design, this is just the analysis of the feasibility.

Before building a pool, the feasibility study defines the whole project: access, environment, ground, architecture, wellness, and usage. A pool feasibility analysis is an essential tool that helps anticipate risks and make the technical decisions that will shape the durability, performance and final quality of the project, or, if a pool can even be built on the property in the first place.

The core aspects of a pool feasibility consulting service may include and might not be limited to the following primary focus points:

  • Site Survey & Spatial Analysis
Reviews your property survey or site plan to map lot boundaries, house dimensions, patios, and available open space.
  • Zoning & Setback Review
Checks local municipal rules and HOA deed restrictions for how far the pool must sit from property lines, fences, and the main dwelling checking all the minimum distances/tolerances allowable.
  • Easements & Utilities Check
Locates underground power, gas, water, sewer, or drainage easements where building is legally restricted in combination with local code and checking that any secondary main lines are within the easement(s).
  • Soil & Topography Assessment
Evaluates slope, rock layers, high water tables, flood zones, drainage easements, power lines, tree roots, etc that might require extra grading, retaining walls, or specialized engineering.
  • Access & Logistics
Verifies if heavy machinery (like excavators) can actually reach your backyard through side gates or neighboring property, and how much damage it might create and what mitigations may exist to keep that to a minimum.
  • Budget Alignment
Matches your financial target with realistic construction methods and ongoing equipment and maintenance costs.
  • Site and Condition Assessment
Evaluates existing site ground conditions, zoning rules, or the structural integrity and remaining lifespan of current infrastructure like retaining walls, bulkheads, etc.
  • Financial and Operational Projections
Estimates capital construction costs, ongoing maintenance, staffing requirements, energy use, and projected revenue.
  • Architectural integration
The topography of the plot is studied so that the body of water fits with the property and its surroundings, adapting infinity edges, levels and access points in a thoughtful and functional way.
  • Orientation and solar exposure
The track of the sun throughout the year is assessed to make the most of natural warmth, shelter the area from wind and coordinate the transition between indoor and outdoor spaces, as appropriate.
  • Hydraulic engineering and energy efficiency
This is where the recirculation, filtration and climate-control systems are sized to deliver crystal-clear water and quiet operation with the lowest possible energy consumption.
  • Ease of use and maintenance
A pool should be conceived to be enjoyed. Here we plan what daily use will be like, so the experience is ideal and maintenance is automated and intuitive as much as is possible.

We offer pool feasibility analysis as a service to focus directly on the question of feasibility, and this is just one aspect of swimming pool consulting. If feasibility of a new pool is in question then this should be done before any design drafting, and certainly and plans are made. We provide you with a scaled drawing delineating the area very clearly we have to work with for the pool and associated aspects of the project, and 1 hour of consultation to discuss our findings with you, giving you insight to make a clear decision one way or the other.
